Saturday January 3rd we arranged and cooked a New-years diner for the volunteers and clients of the “Voedselbank” in IJsselstein.

The Voedselbank is a voluntary project that takes care of people and families that do not have enough money to buy food. Before people can come to the Voedselbank their availabe budget for food and drinks is less than 75 EUR per adult and 25 EUR per child. This is really not much these days.

It would be nice for these people to have a special diner everyday, but especially during the holidays like Christmas and New-years something extra is needed. Together with 5 Justers we designed our own four course menu. We started with a triple fish dish and asparagus with ham. This was followed by homemade tomato soup. The main dish was most appreciated by the clients of the Voedselbank: tenderloin with mushroom-cream sauce. Many of the very friendly people said that they were happy to have a (big) piece of meat after a long time.
